iPad meh
I was looking forward to seeing the new iPad specs and info this week. I’d probably have even purchased one for my simple needs:
- larger iPhone format for reading my books
- larger format for watching videos (iPhone is OK, but not the awesome).
- greater flexibility in running what I want
However. Sadly Apple reminded me why I avoided getting an iPhone for so long
- Apple sucks – seriously, I am clearly not their target audience
- DRM’ing everything sucks – Defective
- iTunes still sucks – I was hoping the iPad would be closer to a real computer than the iPhone.
- No back-grounding of an application?
So. The day after the ipad was announced I decided “No Thanks”. My iPhone is already doing everything the iPad could do for me well enough. The iPad needed to offer more. I still want a larger version of my iPhone but now I’m going to have to insist it run Linux(android).
I await the MSI tablet or perhaps the ASUS tablet, both of which run Android. The only glitch to my plan is Amazon needs to come out with an Android version of their Kindle software. Then it will be a done deal.
Some of the announcements of tablets that could be of possible interest:
- MSI Tablet
- ASUS Pad
- ASUS’s pad pictures released
- Sad that it is aiming for late 2010
- Neofonie WePad
